Beginner · One practice about 3 min · Created by GameTalk · Edited
When to use this
You are choosing a meal with a new friend. Explain flavors you enjoy and what feels comfortable to eat, then choose together.
Read a sentence aloud and check its meaning. Instead of memorising everything at once, choose one sentence for today’s conversation and change the name or situation to fit your own experience.
How to practise
Read each sentence slowly. Check its meaning, then say it again without looking at the translation. Finally, add one sentence about your own situation.

A short example conversation
Common mistakes and tips
- When tastes differ, describe your preference: “I prefer a different flavor,” rather than judging their choice.
- Spicy describes flavor; hot can refer to temperature or spice. Be specific with not spicy or not too hot.
Try it yourself
A friend recommends a spicy dish, but you can only eat a little spice. Explain this and ask about another option.
Show an example answer
Example: “I can only eat a little spicy food. Is there a dish that is not spicy?”
After your practice
Write down one expression you used for the first time. Think of another situation where it would be useful, and try using it in your next conversation.
