First meeting for two
Use the sequence below to host a short language exchange. First check everyone’s level and the language they want to practise. Take turns and let people participate by speaking or listening.

When to use this
Two people meet for a ten-minute chat. Agree on the practice language and make it clear that speaking slowly is welcome.

A short example conversation
Common mistakes and tips
- Share turns rather than letting the host do all the talking.
- Give your partner time to think. You do not need to correct every sentence immediately.
Try it yourself
Your partner is thinking about an answer. Say one sentence that reduces pressure.
Show an example answer
Example: “Take your time. A short answer is fine.”
After your practice
Write down one expression you used for the first time. Think of another situation where it would be useful, and try using it in your next conversation.
