Ask for directions

Find the way to the station and how long it takes.

Beginner · One practice about 5 min · Created by GameTalk · Edited

When to use this

You are asking how to walk to the station in a new neighborhood. After listening, repeat the route in your own words.

Choose a role each and read the goal together. It is fine to start with the helpful expressions. After the conversation, switch roles and practise the same situation again.

Your practice goal

Visitor / Local

Useful expressions

How long does it take from here?

여기서 얼마나 걸려요?

Ask about travel time. Make sure you are discussing a walking route.

Turn right at the next corner.

다음 모퉁이에서 오른쪽으로 가세요.

Identify the corner and make right or left clear.

Could you show me on the map?

지도에서 보여주실 수 있나요?

Ask to see the route on a map if the spoken explanation is unclear.

How to practise

  1. Read the roles and goal together. Listening is welcome.
  2. Talk for two minutes using the helpful phrases.
  3. Add the twist and continue for one more minute.
  4. Switch roles, try again, and share one new expression.

Change the situation when you feel ready

The main road is under construction. Explain another route.
